The Working Party gauged current clinical practice for hot flushes in cancer with a short questionnaire (HF Survey).
This was circulated to the UK Breast Intergroup mailing list (185 responses from about 800 breast cancer health professionals nurses, oncologists, surgeons etc)
Briefly, a small number of people were prescribing HRT or Progesterone (Megestrol), more Clonidine and Gabapentine and many selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). In addition, available treatments (both pharmacological and non-pharmacological) varied across the UK. The results of theis questionaire are also described in the Clinical Oncology Editorial
